A grey overcast day in

13.27
A grey, overcast day in West Dorset.

Just had lunch of tasty local lettuce, a crust of tasty village bread and non-local soup. In the kitchen window is an icon I brought back from the Stavravouny monastery in Cyprus when visiting there in 1979 with my essence brother Peter. Peter is now a deacon in the Orthodox Church. One of our main reasons in going to Cyprus was to visit Father Athanasios, aka Father Efficacious, a spiritual son of Archimandrite Sophrony. Father Sophrony founded an Orthodox monastery in East Anglia, which I also visited with Peter. Peter has continued to consult with Father Efficacious since.

On the flight home on Saturday, from the Daily Telegraph for Friday 26th.January, I read this:

"Two jailed for gay bishop claims (headline).

Two Cypriot men were jailed for three months yesterday for defaming a bishop by claiming that he was a homosexual.

CV, 30, and MG, 34, were allegedly paid by a figure in the Orthodox Church to say that they had sexual relations with Bishop Anthanasios of Limassol.

Archimandrite Andreas Constantinides is awaiting trial for conspiring against the bishop, who was tried and cleared by a Major Synod".

An e-flurry to interrupt the pickling of my brain.
